Category Cuisine Servings Prep Time Cook Time
Appetizer/Dip Middle Eastern 4-6 15 minutes 10 minutes

This creamy, smooth hummus gets its nutty richness from Eastanbul Tahini and a tangy finish from a sprinkle of Eastanbul Sumac. A timeless Middle Eastern dip perfect for mezze platters, sandwiches, or as a healthy snack.
Chef’s Tip: Use ice-cold water to help emulsify the tahini for a smoother texture.

Ingredients

  • 1½ cups cooked chickpeas (or 1 can, drained and rinsed)
  • 1/4 cup Eastanbul Tahini
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 3–4 tbsp cold water (as needed for texture)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp Eastanbul Sumac (plus more for garnish)
  • Optional: a few reserved chickpeas, parsley, sesame seeds for topping

Directions

  1. In a food processor, combine chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, olive oil, and salt.
  2. Blend until thick and slightly chunky, then slowly add cold water, 1 tablespoon at a time.
  3. Continue blending until the hummus becomes smooth and creamy. Adjust salt and lemon to taste.
  4. Transfer to a serving bowl and swirl the surface with a spoon.
  5. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with Eastanbul Sumac, and garnish with extra chickpeas or sesame seeds if desired.
  6. Serve with warm pita, raw veggies, or as part of a mezze board.
